In the past week, I have been witness to three car accidents. The first was my mother backing over my poor 1996 Honda Civic with a very large 2006 Toyota Tundra. Twice. I was not actually there when it happened; my dad, brother and I were having dinner with my grandparents when I got the phone call. She managed to hit the bumper, hood, headlight, and left front fender. Surprisingly, this only amounted to around $1500. The car is still in the shop, but I should get it back this coming Friday.

The other two accidents were less than a mile from my house, but luckily did not involve me. When I passed by the second one, I saw a man or woman laying on the grass, and a few people had stopped to help. The emergency crew weren't there yet, but I then passed a fire truck, ambulance, and two police cars on their way; apparently it was serious. The third accident happened blocks from the second. The small truck in front of me apparently didn't see the brake lights in front of it; the driver slammed on his brakes and swerved trying not to hit the car in front of him. He was nearly successful, but managed to nick a taillight. Both cars pulled over, and I drove by.

These incidents made me realize how lucky I am to have never been in a real accident.

My grandmother passed away recently. She didn't want a funeral service; she wanted a party. As such, I've been a bit preoccupied with helping my family prepare for it. I was in charge of putting together a PowerPoint slideshow with hundreds of pictures from her life. My mom and I spent many hours scanning pictures, and then we had to get them compiled into the slideshow. Finally, my cousin Dorene adjusted the timings and put in music. Dennis Anderson, a pastor at my parents' church, gave the service portion of the proceedings, and my mom delivered a biography of my grandma that she had written, with the collaboration of the rest of the family. It was beautifully done. Overall, I think my grandma would have been very pleased with her one last celebration.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I haven't really been doing anything terribly exciting. I've been going to Tucson every week, and playing my Wii while at home. I've beaten Metroid Prime 3, and I have started in on Zelda: Twilight Pricess.

This past weekend, however, I did get a chance to do something fun. I went to see Spamalot in Denver, with two of my highschool friends, Carrie and Sarah, and also Sarah's boyfriend Jim. The evening began with a trip to Maggiano's, which is an excellent Italian restaurant on the 16th street mall in Denver. They have the best tiramisu that I have ever tasted, not to mention the fabulous entrees.

After dinner, we walked the five blocks to the Buell, and made our way to our front-row balcony seats. The seats were amazing, with great acoustics and a spectacular view. The play was equally wonderful. I would highly recommend it to any Monty Python fan. It is based heavily on The Holy Grail film, but there is also a significant amount of new material as well. I found myself repeating the familiar lines, and laughing hysterically at the new ones. In short, the play was excellent. I'm also very glad that I had friends to enjoy it with!
